Goals: Here is looking at ya 2010!

Hi all! Happy New Year! This is my last blog post until 2010. I have some goals that I am hoping to see bear fruit.

1. I am hoping to get my first short story published. I have given the first draft out to several friends, but only one has read it so far and given me thumbs up on the short story. I want them to hurry, but I am saying that because it is my baby.

2. I will start online dating. Why? Because I need a plus 1. You know when invitations go out and it has your name and a spot for a plus 1? Well I am planning on a cruise in June or July and I need a plus 1 to share a room, because frankly singles are punished on trips such as these. So I am hopeful for some fun, though I have tried the online thing before but I feel that I am in a different frame of mind, so we shall see.

3. Getting healthy. I could say lose weight or go on a diet, but that would happen with getting healthy. I have tried diets in the past and I have lost weight, but getting healthy I feel is long term and not a quick fix. I am ready.

4. I was thinking of running a marathon, but then I think that would be pushing it, though I would like to try, so I will keep this goal on the back burner and revisit again in a year.

5. And last but not least, I am planning a Europe trip for 2011 and I am bound and determined to save money for this trip. I have been thinking about it for the past 4 years, and I am ready.

6. Oh wait, this is the last goal! Writing! Writing! Writing! My goal is to write more on this blog, my book reviews which are sorely lacking and crafting more stories to publish in general! Ok that is it! See ya next year!

If you had access to a time machine, where and when would be the first place you travel to?

Wow, hmm. I could say the past, but there is no way in hell I would want to go back in time and deal with the smells (people not bathing and like trash out in the open yuck)and no tv. Hell to the naw! And I love History, just do not want to see it. Like I do not want to go to Africa. Everybody wanna go, but see I have this insane fear, that I'll be out in the effin tundra and like some damn tribe will claim as their long lost whatever. No thank you!
But if I had the chance I would go to the future. I want to know if racism is dead, if gay marriage is now acceptable and to know if we as a species actually travel to planets and colonized. Just seems more acceptable to me especially as I would assume there would be some kind of tv?

What TV show makes you laugh the loudest?

My god, this is a good question! I will just say that it will have to be Glee. I laugh at every single episode and no lie it is loud. There are other tv shows out there but not every single episode, so I guess that must mean something right?

Who would win in a fight: pirates or ninjas?

I actually saw an episode of the deadliest warrior on spike tv and they actually pit the ninjas against I believe roman soldiers. Guess who won?
Not the ninjas who are stealthy and sneaky so it boggles the effin mind!!
But I digress! HA!
Ok in this case the Ninjas would beat the pirates. Why? Because Pirates are loud, brash, and well they are not the smartest people out there. While they use brute strength, ninjas would sneak upon their boat on ninja like feet and get 'em while their sleep.

I need a swift kick in the patootie!

I miss writing. I am reading but not writing. I miss it and I do not know why as I kicked major butt las month for nanowrimo! Maybe I burned out? But I don't think so because I have many stories to tell I am just not writing or putting pen to paper.

I think my problem is I have a fear that my stuff is no good, which is just wrong on my part. I am even slacking on the blogging which is my second love. I think I need to just write like I am doing now and stop sweating the small stuff.

I also moved my laptop to a different location and I think this is another reason for the slacking. It is in my room versus my living room at my computer desk.

The long and short of it is I need to get back on the saddle and write. I am most happy when I am putting my thoughts out there for the world to see and keeping them bottled up only gives me a headache.

So some short term goals for the rest of 2009? Start the writing again everyday whether it is the blog or my story in progress. I have the ideas now it is time to start cooking with them. No more excuses. I am ready to see my writing published. Seriously. I've got one short story done and I am in the middle of editing, and as I stated earlier another in progress. I can do this.

And since I apparently am not the only one who feels this way I saw this post after I wrote the above and had to seriously smile! I follow "A Newbie's Guide to Publishing" and this list is why:

Newbie Writer Resolutions
  • I will start/finish the damn book
  • I will always have at least three stories on submission, while working on a fourth
  • I will attend at least one writer's conference, and introduce myself to agents, editors, and other writers
  • I will subscribe to the magazines I submit to
  • I will join a critique group. If one doesn't exist, I will start one at the local bookstore or library
  • I will finish every story I start
  • I will listen to criticism
  • I will create/update my website
  • I will master the query process and search for an agent
  • I'll quit procrastinating in the form of research, outlines, synopses, taking classes, reading how-to books, talking about writing, and actually write something
  • I will refuse to get discouraged, because I know JA Konrath wrote 9 novels, received almost 500 rejections, and penned over 1 million words before he sold a thing--and I'm a lot more talented than that guy
It seriously tickled me because most of the others are ones I do struggle with! This list was compiled in 2006 and as 2010 approaches I see that these things apparently never change! So to say I am inspired is not a small thing! This blog post and list is just what I needed to get that swift kick in the butt! =D

Darius: Continuing my Inspiration into 2010

Hi all. It has been awhile since I've blogged and I miss it. I have had some financial troubles and this month, which is usually all about good will and all, is now about simple survival. I've had to let things go (i.e. Cable/Phone) and have been lucky enough to exist on free wi-fi internet.

Though my boys will not have a "Christmas" this year, there is one thing keeping me going, even when I feel it is my darkest time. It is my middle son Darius DeVante Chaney.

I was 21 years of age when I had him. He was born in 1992, and was born with a heart condition that later turned fatal. As I write this I am choked up again at the little amount of time I had with him. I only have about 5 or 6 pictures of him, because I thought I would have more time.

He was born with a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, had no full esophagus, and his muscles had atrophied. He had his very first surgery hours after being born to be able to feed, and his second and last surgery to help his heart when he was a month old. He had physical and occupational therapists working on him to get his muscles at least in a normal state. He stayed in the hospital for the first three months of his life, and when I took him home he had a heart monitor and several sets of instructions. Throughout his short life he had doctor appointments upon doctor appointments to last a lifetime. When he took his last breath, I was beyond devastated. I was only 22 with an almost 2 year old and I just had a baby that passed.

It was hard, very hard, but I got over that death and went on to have another boy, who was the spitting image of Darius for the first month of his life.

Even with all that Darius endured for nine months, that little boy had the most beautiful smile in the world, and I am sad to say I do not have a picture of it. No matter how much he hated the doctors, he always smiled at me and his older brother and made me appreciate him. He was a happy baby up until that last day. And I truly believe that for awhile there my youngest son had Darius with him to let me know it would all be ok.

So no matter how hard things are for me financially, I think about Darius and his awesome little smiles for me and the stress of this month lessens that much more. As I think of things this past year that have gone wrong, I think of Darius and I have to remember that no matter what he had a smile for me.

Thank you.

Day 25 NaNoWriMo update – Book excerpt

Hi all! Thanks to those who still manage stumble onto my blog! I have been so busy with getting this novel written and done by 11/30/09! I am behind in my other projects like book reviews, but I am chugging along quite nicely with this! I am about 10k away from goal! So with that said I decided to add an excerpt here for ya’ll to read! I could set it up, but I decided not too. Please enjoy! And comments are welcome! (FYI-this is a first draft w/out editing lol.)

“And then what? Do you honestly think that they will help us?”
I looked to who spoke and saw that it was a young human male. I saw red, just because I was a bit pissy. I probably needed some blood, but that would not help if I vamped out on the humans. Sometimes having a demon inside sucked super hard!
“I have no idea if it will work, but quite frankly I do not give a shit! We need the help. And we need their tech. They are more advanced than both of people.”
I looked at him until he turned his head. Great I was showing dominance like a damn animal. I have not been this thirsty since I first woke. While the Nasarii needed the blood, they did not crave it like I did. They actually created a blood substitute in pill form with the help of the humans sympathetic to our plight, but with my demon essence well mine was a craving and a need.
Most days I can ignore the craving, but ever since we allowed the humans in our inner circle there were times I would go all predator. I did try the pill supplement, and while it helped it never really stopped the need. I know what I needed but I was reluctant. I needed a blood donor or more appropriate a blood slave. I could be sustained with a Nasarii, but what I really wanted was a human male. Siona knew what I was going through as I confessed it to her. I even told Jasen who of course was ready to let me suck from him, but I was not ready to go there yet.
I hated this weakness but I knew I could not go too long with out the real deal. I think it was the predator in me.

Day 14 NaNoWriMo Update

I am proud to say that I am at the halfway mark with my novel. I am at a little over 25k words. I am excited because this is the most writing I've done on a single project and it feels good!

There were a couple of days there were I wrote but my word counts for the days were less than 200 words. I could have been disappointed, but I realized that from day 1 I was always over a bit by my daily goal of 1667 words so writing the small amount did not hurt me. It also made me realized that no matter what I was still writing.

That has been my biggest hurdle. I never complete a writing project because I let things like life intrude. So far I am realizing I can do this writing gig, if I put it in my head to write. I am also finding it easy to bust out anywhere from 7 to 9 pages a day. Before that would have been a serious struggle.

They say it takes 3 weeks, 21 days to form a habit. This is one habit I want to keep. Seriously. I enjoy writing, and this has been a dream of mine since 1989 when I graduated high school. Well one marriage, one divorce, 2 kids later I am finally realizing my dream and it is all thanks to National Novel Writing Monthly!

Just a Random Thoughts Post

As I sit here and wait for "V" to come on, what if there really are aliens out there, just waiting for us? I do have an active imagination, but sometimes I think it goes over board.

A couple of years ago, when I was in my twenties when I got into a Astro Bounce with my friend. I had never been in one and we both decided to try it. There were kids in there too and we were having a blast until the damn bounce started losing air. Us adults tried to leave first before the kids, but me and my girl got stuck in the entrance because the kids decided to bumrush us and get out too. Let's just say I peed a little from laughing very, very hard. I was not even breathing some of time as I was just laughing like a little kid. Good times.

I have a job that requires large amounts of caffeine in order for me to keep my sanity. Even during Princess Mode (some of you know it as pms). But even with copious amounts of Coffee, people still amaze me with how friggen rude they are. I answer the phone, why in the hell would you start yelling at me? I finally had it today and had to tell a man point blank that I was not the cause of his distress and in order for me to help him he needed to stop going off on me. I said it very pleasantly, but I had to go there. I got him to where he needed to be, but I had a headache after wards.

I love twitter! I love being random and tweeting in 140 characters. But I am way pissed that a guy is now getting a TV show from his tweets. WTH? Ok maybe he is funny, but still, maybe I need to kick my tweets up a notch? Hmm.

Day 7 NaNoWriMo Update

Hi all! Can I just say that NaNoWriMo has taken over my life! SERIOUSLY! I am writing about 2k words a day, and to add to my writing workload I also decided to try my hand at a submission for a publisher, so I've written a story that I finished today. It is supposed to be limited to 5k and I am over it, by 500 words so I will be editing it. I am quite proud of myself. In the last 7 days I wrote over 20k words, though I am not counting the short story into my total word count as it is something I started already, and per the rules of nanowrimo, you can't do that. But regardless, this is something I want to do. Anyhoo I decided to try my hand at making a book cover for my nanowrimo book witch is slightly futuristic/sci-fi and I used one of my photos I took of the night sky, and changed the color a bit. I kinda like it, but I am not graphic artist and I do not have photo shop, but something that came with my computer. So enjoy this awesome book cover with my pen name if I ever do become a published author. (not really, but I felt the need to show off a bit lol)

What exactly is a McRib?

That is my question, though if I think about too hard I might never eat one again. But seriously is it beef, chicken, or pork meat product? It is shaped like a riblet, yet I know for a fact that no bones touched that meat.

But even with these questions, I still crave one every time they decide to roll these out. The tangy sauce, pickles, and onions on a fluffy bun. My mouth waters just thinking about it!

For a long time I refused to eat them on the grounds that McDonalds did not know ribs. But oh was I wrong. And this is also a great marketing campaign. Only come out once a year for a limited time for something. I really hate them for that.

So while I do have serious questions about the meat that is a McRib, I will still enjoy them for the time that they are out.

NaNoWriMo is upon me!

Hey all! I've been getting myself prepared for what is going to be a fantabolous adventure! I am going to participate in writing 50k words with in 30 days. It is a lot of words but I am up for it! I've been practicing with this blog by attempting to write every single day! Not always, but with NaNoWriMo I have to write a min of 1667 words a day, so I do not have the time to slack off. For those who don't know what this awesome thing is about, well click here for more info!

As I do have a writing diary of sorts I will be updating my ups and downs of trying to complete a novel in 30 days! If you want to read about it follow me here!

With that said, I will also continue to update this blog, but I may not hit it everyday, but I will try to update the stuff that just seems to find me, like any crazy story, or any wacky emails that comes my way. I also have my book review site, which I will update 2-3 times a week, as I am a fast reader.

This also means I will slow down on the Link Referreal and the Entre Cards. While I absolutely love going to other blogs, I will have to slow down, but just for the month of November. I won some more awards and I have to make sure I give out to those blogs I've come across and like and that post should being go up soon.

So as you can see I will be very busy in November, but no worries, as I am hoping to write my masterpiece! Thanks for stopping by!

Are you doing NaNoWriMo? Let's be buddies! http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/503144

Neva Eva Touch a Black Woman's Hair!

This is PSA (public service announcement) of sorts. Today I almost witness the fury of a black woman who would have been within her rights to go ballistic.

The Situation.

A young black woman, just had her hair did (translation, had a new weave put in) and it was looking fierce.

The Ignorant One.

A woman who is not black, tried to pay a compliment, but in doing so, she seriously, attempted to pet the young woman's hair.

The Outcome.

The young woman swooped away in the nick of time and said thank you.

Here is the worst case scenario.

Let's say the Ignorant One actually touched said hair? Well I can imagine that it would not have been pretty. The girl with the weave would have turned into a hair-ninja and hair-slap the idiot. Now that would have been something to see.

So a word to the wise. See a black woman with fabulous hair? First instinct is to pet the hair? You might want to think before you act.

This PSA has been brought to by "Oh no she didn't!" and "B**** Please!"

Satire is funny. Picture courtesy of loveisntenough.com

President Obama vs the Tea Party Gang: Who really has our best interest at heart?

FYI- Sorry this post is a bit long, and it is a rant, so I thank you in advance for reading!

Last night I had my eyes opened up further to the extreme stupidity of some Americans. It is about a movement, a Tea Party Movement that “seems” to be gaining in popularity and people opposing the Obama Administrations Health Care Plan, any increase in taxes, and the POTUS himself. Apparently it is a 2009 thing, because I don’t recall seeing this movement in the past 8 years. Hmm.

What prompted this post?

Well this Tea Party Movement is going on a 38 city tour in the U. S. of A. and they started in San Diego yesterday per the news story here. I looked on in dismay as the people held signs up that were not friendly or nice, but geared to act as hate-filled mini billboards to showcase their “growing” horror at the Obama Administration Healthcare reform. Or anything the administration tries to deal with.

Case in point, a little 10 year old girl being interviewed said “People who aren't having jobs are just sitting there and they're giving the people who are sitting the money, and the people who are working aren't getting anything." Wow. I was in awe of the fact that she could not quite get out the rhetoric yet there she was with her sign that said “I don’t need a savior, I need a president.” Parents please, stop putting your ideas and agendas on your kids! She is 10, she should be in a park playing, being carefree, not out and about protesting things, I am quite sure she does not fully understand!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but when did it mean that uninsured Americans translated into unemployed Americans? I had a job once that just could not afford to provide healthcare to its employees, so point blank I was uninsured. And the whole “it’s my money, why do I have to pay for others?” phrase is getting real old. Hmm isn’t that what taxes are for? Or did people just recently realize that is what taxes were for? Hmm makes me wonder who is getting played here.

Then I heard a term that one of the people heading the tour, a Deborah Jones, Tea-Party Express Vice Chairman, said that the “Democrats calls us astroturfers and we are not.” At this point I had to rewind my DVR because that was the first time I ever heard this word used in such a fashion as I am not even a casual observer of politics.

So here is a definition: “Campaigns & Elections magazine defines astroturf as a ‘grassroots program that involves the instant manufacturing of public support for a point of view in which either uninformed activists are recruited or means of deception are used to recruit them."(Astroturf)

From my observation alone, I can agree with the whole “uninformed activist” part as the people they interviewed seemed ass-backwards in their response as to why they are part of the movement. How does the average citizen allow themselves to get caught up in the frenzy of this mess? Apparently with “unbiased” claims such as these:

- telling old people that the president plans to kill them

- telling people they won’t be able to choose their doctors

- telling people that a universal system would encourage terrorist attacks

- telling people that a universal system would make this country a communist nation (---> FYI- I saw this info in the comments of this blog here)

When I looked at the news program, I will admit it seemed to be either the elderly or the very young at the rallies who were speaking out on these issues and these were some of the things that they were spouting out as well as what was on their signs they were holding up.

From what I understand is that people do not want government to run healthcare, but aren’t they already running a portion of it? I think it is called Medicaid and Medicare, but maybe I’m wrong. Or maybe these people are just selfish and only want healthcare for some and not all. I know if I lose my job, my healthcare options are COBRA or nothing. As it stands now, I don’t qualify for Medicare or Medicaid, so I’d be S.O.L.

So my question is this: Am I not seeing the big picture? Or am I not the group this is intended for? Or maybe the world (Americans) has gone crazy and I haven’t had a sip of the coo-coo juice yet. Because I read the Healthcare Plan that Obama is proposing and the one thing that jumps out to me? That no matter what, I will still have healthcare. Is that wrong?

Clutter me this!

Hi all. I’ve been getting some love from Link Referral. Great place to put your blog or website. Totally free. Though you can pay, but who wants to? But the reason I am even talking about this again (talked about it in another post) I received two reviews about my site being too “cluttered.”

Well to that all I can say is yeah it is. I am one of those people who need every space filled. Hmm that sounds like a double entendre which was not what I intended, but on this blog it feels complete to me. Then this made me think about my “real” world spaces, and I realize that I am the same way.

I have a need to have "empty"spaces filled. It just makes me complete. I've always been like that. When stuff surrounds me all is right in my world. But to some folks all those spaces filled is a bit much. I am not uber neat, neat enough. At work I have organized chaos and I am fine with that. I've tried to "clean" my space at work but I feel absolutely "nekkid".

So I guess what this post is all about is that no matter what I am the same person, whether online or in real time. Nice.

I need a Man

Well that is what my kids tell me. And apparently they aren't the only ones. On facebook I am being bombarded with ads of single men from interracial dating sites, black males, mature males and millionaires.

All I can say is wth? Why do I need my boys and facebook to tell me I'm single? Hek I know I am and I am fine with that. If I meet a lovely gentleman who I find interesting, then hallelujah I'd be happy!

I mean I am funny, quirky, can talk about almost anything, I mean why wouldn't a man want all of this? Apparently they don't hence my single status. I'm not picky. All I want is a man who is taller than me, muscular, flipping hot, and can talk to me about anything. Oh wait, that is a fantasy man from my many romance novels I read. Hmm I see a pattern.

Maybe I am picky. Though I don't think I am asking for much. I could go on with my list but I don't really put my dirty side here. That is what my erotic blog is for. No shame in the plug, thank you very much. Hek even the three hotties in the pic would need to be tried out on a trial basis.

Well nothing for it. My boys will have to deal. I am happy. I've already been married. Been there done that. Now I am not getting any younger, but at the same time, I am special and any man would be happy to hang with me. Thanks for reading.

p.s. Anyone know where I can find those hunky firemen? Seriously. =D

Tuesday Random Thoughts

randomtuesday

Random Tuesday Thoughts. I like memes. What does the word meme mean? I've been seeing it around and I looked it up: n. A unit of cultural information, such as a cultural practice or idea, that is transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another. Interesting.

I think movie critics suck. They only seem to give awesome reviews to movies that most will never gravitate too and if I like, say Transformers 2, then I am the idiot. Hmm I know it is a bunch of giant robots. That is fine. I have an imagination thank you very much and I quite enjoy it!

My hair is growing and as much as I want to chop it off, I am going to let it to continue to grow. Did you know that hair is actually dead? Can you imagine if it was still alive once out of your head? My god the stuff I've done to it in the past 20+ years, I believe it would kill me. No lie.

Music Monday - Ludo "Love Me Dead"

What can I say about this song? The first time I heard it, I was struck by the lyrics and how funny and powerful they are. And the video is probably one of the few videos I’ve ever seen that is absolutely literal to the lyrics, which makes this a unique find, at least in my book. I also write to the song, as it just evokes emotions and thoughts conducive to whatever I’m working on. Plus it is just an overall kick butt song!

Wow! Two more Blog Awards!

I have received 2 more blog awards and I can tell you that I feel light as air. Not that I am or anything, but it is such a nice feeling knowing that what you love, other’s “get”what you’re all about!

The first award is the One Lovely Blog award. This was given to me from the lovely Angela who has been a little under the weather. You should drop by her blog and see why she received the award. She is truly inspiring.

So here are the rules of receiving this “lovely” award: I am to pass it on to 15 other bloggers I’ve newly discovered. Well because of that it has taken me almost two weeks. Now I read on another blog, the person who won this award, he thought this was like spam, but I don’t see it that way. I have to go on other blogs and look at their sites. I just thinks it gives new blogs and opportunity to get traffic. =D

So in no particular order, these are some blogs who caught my eye when blog-walking:

Are you a Photographer?

Well I'm not. At least not a serious one. I have been thinking about taking it on as a hobby but honestly it seems like to much effort. Is it? I have a simple digital camera, and lately things have just been popping out at me so to speak. I've taken a couple of pictures of the sky and this freaky looking tree. I think they are ok, but when I see people who really take the hobby to heart, well mine looks like crap. o_O

Well here are some of the pics I've taken. I will tell you this. These pics inspire me to want to write a scene to the scene so to speak.

This tree was super cool. I like how it grew up around the post.

Here is another shot of the crazy tree. I also got a good angle on the rest of trees. Looks like soldiers.

And this was just a cool cloud cover pic.

How are you with the camera?

1981

This was a big year for me. I was in a class play. My reign as a klepto was officially over. I still had no boobs. I was turned down to be a cheerleader. I read my first young adult romance. I finally got a backbone. I was a double dutching jump roper until a girl with man feet jumped on my foot and sprang it. And like that, my career was over. My little sister was born. I could go on, but as you can see this year holds a lot of meaning to me. At least the stuff I remember.
BTW the TV pic I used? We seriously had this giant monstrosity in our home! Memories.

I was ten years old and in the fifth grade. It was in a shared class between two teachers. Yes I still remember their names. That is how much an impression this class made on me. Mrs Crittendon in the mornings, and Mr. Hamaguchi in the afternoons. Mostly what I remember from the classes is all the fun stuff, which we seemed to do a lot of! This is where Mrs. Crittendon took my love of Judy Blume further by having us act out passages from the books “Tales of the 4th grade nothing” and “Super Fudge.”

We also did mini readings from Shel Silverstein’s poetry. I swear I can still remember my ten year old self reciting the poem in which I can’t remember the name, but this bit of passage “If I eat one more piece of pie, I’ll die. If I don’t eat another piece of pie I’ll die.”

The big play we did in that class for the whole school (which I forgot to mention above, we did all of these mini plays/recitals in front of the whole school) though was Jungle Book. I will tell you this; my part was for one of the elephants. At first. The teacher saw how much energy I had, like way too much, and she switched me with a boy who was perfect for the slow moving elephants. I in turn became one of monkeys in King Louie camp. My god how do I still remember this?

We were so good; we also put on the play for the parents. We also did the whole play in fluorescent colors/lights. Pretty ingenious if you ask me. The lights were placed around the stage on the floor and all the scenery and us kids were painted with florescent paint. To make my part of the monkey come alive to the audience a cut out painted monkey head was taped to my chest. Seriously looked like monkeys dancing.

I also had my first slow dance in this class. It was not like junior high or high school where the dances were held in the gym or auditorium. This was just for the class. Well I remember the song, It was Stacy Lattisaw and the song was “Love on a two way street”.

I also learned how to line dance and what “dosy-doh your partner” meant. This is when I first found out that there was really a school like in the movie “Fame”. They were called Main Attraction (which at the time I did not realize you had to audition for!!) and they performed for us kids, basically recruiting for the School of Creative and Performing Arts. I was in and after their performance I begged my mom like for the rest of the 5th grade year to let me please go to the school.

I can go on and on, but this year was a good year, and after remembering it, it makes sense that this is the beginning of my love affair with books, and the need to perform. Thank you Mrs. Crittendon and Mr. Hamaguchi!

Working on my Music List for NaNoWriMo

I love music. I love listening to whats on the radio, but I love when I personally find a new artist, at least new to me. I am an avid viewer of Castle, an interesting TV show on Monday nights. It stars one of my favorite actors, Nathon Fillion from the Joss Whedon universe (Buffy season 7, Firefly/Serenity). I actually came to the show late in its first season, but have been watching every episode since. So last night, when Beckett (the female lead character) took a bubble bath the most amazing song came on.

At that point I went into scooby-doo mode and looked online for that song. I found it and then listened to the album and instantly fell in love. The girl is named MoZella. She is from Detroit and what amazed me about her is that she is such a soulful singer. She is what you would call blue-eyed soul. I can only describe her as a mix of Joss Stone, Adele, and Duffy and yet she is something different. The album the song is featured on is called I Will and came out 2006, and the album sounds brand new to me, and not the obvious cookie cutter sound that is so prevalent on the top 40 radio. The song is called Can't Stop, and this album will be going on my music list for NaNoWriMo. It is just awesome!

I also have one other album I found from a TV show. I am also an avid viewer of Dollhouse, and yes this too is another Joss Whedon awesome show. Well last season they featured the most amazing song towards the end of an episode and I will I admit I rewinded that song so many times. The artist called Sia and again searched for it online and instantly fell in love with her. Her sound is totally Unique to me, but she can only be descibed as a bit of Duffy mixed with a bit of Amy Winehouse yet her own sound. The song is called "I Go To Sleep".

And one other album on the growing list is Muse, the Black Holes album and their new one The Resistance. The song that made me uber excited for the album is called "Uprising". I first heard them 2 years ago, the song "Knights of Cyndonia". The one thing I've loved about them is their sound which is a mix of Queen and ELO-Electric Light Orchestra. Yeah I am kinda a music nerd, not a huge one, but enough of one, to know what I like! Also cuz I am sci-fi lover this new song is in the promo for the revamped V on ABC. I saw the pilot at Comic this past summer and I can tell you it is gonna be AWESOME!

Ok this is part of my writing music list. Have you any music you listen to that just does it for you?

Foot in Mouth Disease

Sometimes I wonder why I even open my mouth. I swear I think I have all the answers. I think I need to go to a “how to talk to people” seminars, because apparently I suck at it. I just ticked off my friend and my son. Who’s next?

Jeez I yelled at my son because he got into trouble. Now everyone is getting on me for being too hard on him. What?! Ok then I saw something on the news that had me worried about my friend and I spoke to her about it. Basically you can not tell anyone what to do in their own home with their own kids, hell I get that. As a friend I thought I had carte blanche to at least voice an opinion and to have it taken as concern. But I came off as a know it all.

So in less than two days I opened my mouth and I am the bad guy. At this point I am pissed because my son acted out and I was mad. His reaction made me madder. He had the “I don’t care” look. The worse look a parent can receive. My friend had the condescending smile on her face that told me to shut the eff up and get out of her face, yet I couldn’t stop talking.

You ever have those moments? Well I know I was coming from a good place, but it’s like someone trying to tell me how to do something and I don’t need their help. That was a weird and uncomfortable feeling. I don’t think I can get over it or talk to her about it.

Friendship not over, but it makes me think twice about voicing my opinion about anything to her. My son on the other hand, he is giving me grief and while I listen to other people’s advice on what to do, I am trying to get over the anger of his actions. Even if I don’t want to hear the advice, I know that the people who love me are coming at me out of love and concern. Which is why I thought I could talk to my friend, but who am I with my own problems?

And I don’t want to think about that, but if I can’t talk, truly talk to my friends then what do I have? Oh yeah this blog. So this post is all about my feeling sorry about my lot in life. Also I wonder who is next on the piss-off list. You? Sorry for the pity party. Sometimes it helps me to bleed the feelings off by writing about it. I do feel better. I will deal with these two situations. I will only say that at this time I am on what my other friend calls Princess Mode Syndrome. I will use it as an excuse.

Music Monday - Joss Stone "Right To be Wrong"

Oh another fun meme! I like this one. All about music. So I picked Joss Stone song "Right to be Wrong" as it is one of my favorite songs to sing in karaoke. I sang it this past Saturday, and I will admit, I did get crowd participation. I only wish I had the confidence to go on America's Got Talent, but I'll dream a little Dream. So enjoy the song about a girl who wants the choice to be wrong so she can learn from her mistakes. Pretty powerful if you ask me. Please enjoy!

Scary Movies are not for me!

I thought this post would be appropriate for the month.

So my friend and her daughter saw this new freaky movie, “Paranormal Activity”, which is supposedly true and filmed here in San Diego.

Now I personally do not like scary movies, though I’ve seen a few to know it is not my thing, but when there is a movie supposedly based on fact and filmed in my city, well there is no way on God’s green Earth I will ever see that movie!

You see my imagination goes into overdrive to the point I can’t sleep and I start to experience my own paranormal stuff. So no thank you “Paranormal Activity!”

When I saw “Blair Witch Project” I was scared. I watched it with my sister and it was probably after midnight. All of a sudden, after the movie ended, I look at my sister who has tears welling up in her eyes and all she is doing is pointing with her mouth hanging open.

I will tell you now; I was ready to leave her and my kids to whatever supernatural thing was happening no lie! Wrong I know!

When I finally turned around, my dang phone cord had twisted itself into the shape of those stick figures that were hanging up in the trees in the movie. If you seen it, you will know what I am talking about.

I was so effin (this is my way of cursing, thank you very much!) scared, and at that precise moment, as we stared in horror at the cord, someone knocked on my door. No lie!
We screamed bloody murder and jumped so high I am surprised we didn’t jump on the ceiling! I tried to make my sister answer the door (wrong I know haha), but I finally made myself walk to the door. It was the next door neighbor’s friend who knocked on the wrong door. I was so relieved that I turned into a gibbering idiot for 5 seconds. He looked at me like I was crazy, but I didn’t care. After that we watched Inspector Gadget, the movie, to get our minds off that crazy mess we experienced! (Can I tell you, that writing this I am getting scared all over again?)

So this is one of many reasons why I will not see scary movies in general. And this would be my definition of scary movies, such as torture and any type of Asian horror, which is a whole other type of scary to me. This will be The Ring and The Grudge. Enough said on that.

Now I will probably see Zombieland, because it just looks funny, though a bit gross, but knowing me, after seeing it, the dang Zombie apocalypse will happen and I am in no dang shape to be running from zombies so I’d probably end up being one.

So what scares the poop out of you? Or are you like my friend who will see these movies because she enjoys being scared?
