Another 30 Day Challenge started

With one set of 30 Day Challenges complete, I picked up a second one to continue working on my bottom half. I decided to do lunges, and I will admit they seem harder than the squats! Or maybe I just got used to the squats.

I am now on Day 5. I am up to 40 lunges and I am also continuing my squats but only 100 per day. I still feel the burn, and I am excited to see what these lunges will do for my bottom half.

I did miss a day, and while it is not what I planned, I just consider it a rest day. I am not even bummed or miffed about it. I like my new attitude about keeping my goals and not beating myself up about it.

Though I still have doubts. I have been posting my days on Facebook, but somehow I’ve gotten it into my head that nobody really wants to read about that. However I was clearly mistaken, as I got a few words of encouragement to keep posting. Because it helps me keep myself accountable. Which it does.

I am determined to take one day at a time, at 30 day intervals. I like how I physically feel, and how loose my jeans feel. Even my overall outlook on life has changed a bit, even though I can still be a bitch when provoked… Do not even get me started on the daily trials I have to deal with on public transportation.

Personally I don’t see myself as some kind of guru, just a person who is really trying to be a better person to herself, no matter how much she loves food, and is generally a lazy person when it comes to exercise. That is probably the hardest thing for me on this journey of self-discovery, trying to get in the habit of moving. I am taking baby steps, and so far my mind is set on go.

Anyway that I blab a bit on here. I feel more words of what -ever will trickle through me into this blog. Sometimes I just have so much to say, you know?

30 Day Squat Challenge complete!

I did it! Honestly did not think I would be able to complete that amount of squats, but I was bound and determined. I started this challenge for purely selfish and vanity reasons. I was losing my butt. Started eating differently and I started losing weight and inches and my butt seem to be losing the battle.

So I set forth and squatted. Oh did I do it. I even got sick in the middle of the squats, but I never stopped, I kept going, only resting when indicated. I took a picture at day 14, noticing a difference. Sometimes I swear I see something other times I don’t. But I have watched my butt like a hawk, and I can say with confidence that I have won the battle if not the war on the loss of my butt.

Sometimes I think I am a tad too fixated on that area, however, I think it has been worth it. Now that this challenge is over, I will continue to do the squats but a much more manageable number, and I want to do different ones, not just general squat. This is why I like this site called 100 Squats a day. Great way to keep going without losing the edge.

Now that the challenge is over, I feel the need to take on another one, and settled on the 30 Day Lunge Challenge. I like the pace I am setting for myself, not too much too fast. I like the idea of building my lower body, and working my way until I get to the point, these challenges will be incorporated in my overall daily routines.

So check out the pics which are Day 1, Day 14 and Day 30 and tell me if you see the difference. I can tell you that my thighs have benefited greatly (I feel stronger!), and I can’t wait to see what the next 30 days will bring!!

For those wanting to do their own challenges, here is an awesome site that has all the challenges to date without the annoying butt shots and super fit people lol. http://30dayfitnesschallenges.com/ Oh and I am not a doctor or fitness guru, so I am not responsible or liable for these items I found on the web. I am just telling you about my own journey. Good Luck!

Music: How a song change your perspective on life

I am an admitted nerd. Pretty much have a mad obsession for a man in blue box. And yes that would be Doctor Who I am referring to. Of course most people don’t know who he is, and it boggles the mind.

This is how I feel when it comes to music. And yes I am a music nerd. I love finding new artists, even if they have been out for years; they are definitely new to me. When this happens, I usually go out on the hunt for full discography.

I want to shout it out to the world, listen at how awesome this song is, but of course, for most people they just don’t care as much as I do or it is not their cup of tea. Again boggles the mind.

What I've done here is create a list of sorts, music that I've found over the years through the medium of television and movies. A lot of what I find that appeals to me is music that is not considered main stream (i.e. radio play) but somehow people have found these little nuggets of gems. Thank goodness, because with some of my favorite shows that I've seen, the person who picks the music to set the scenes, well they are straight unsung heroes in my book. Also I want their job. Seriously.

And here is my list of artist, as well as the TV show/movie I heard it in.

The Nine Lives of Chloe King introduced me to Ke$ha and the song Animal (BillBoard Remix) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTHWQSfaFLA
Haven introduced me to A Camp. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7HnW9BwNoY
Dollhouse introduced me to Sia. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjIcvDm1iC4
Castle introduced me to MoZella. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbFDA9pAnXA
Vampire Diaries introduced me to Stateless http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LZOnJzTYRM

I have found these artists are not all mainstream, because unfortunately I’d never have found them, which is both a good and sad thing. I am glad though through the amazing power of TV someone has the awesome job of finding the right musical artist that just get to me. Again I totally want that job! Of course Ke$ha is super mainstream, however she is not an artist I like, but that song moved me just enough to hate her not so much.

Then there are the movies, more to the point the Twilight movies. No matter what anyone says about the movies (which I heart!) the soundtracks are by far the best thing that came out of the 5 movies. Again as a fan of the movies, the soundtracks are an amalgamation of everything that was being told in the books that was then translated to the big screen. I was introduced to so many artists, that I ended up getting these very different artists’ albums, just to get see what I had been missing. And boy was I not disappointed at all!

The first Twilight introduced me to Paramore Decode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvnkAtWcKYg
New Moon introduced me to:

With the Eclipse soundtrack I not only found new artists, but some old one’s had new songs that just totally blew me away. In fact this is my favorite out of the three soundtracks. I like almost every song on this album, but what I want to highlight is two artists that blew me away.

And of course Cee-Lo song that just quite blew me away. I think I listened to this song about a million times. Maybe lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppa02XZv184

For Breaking Dawn, I think I just overloaded on part 1 of the 2 soundtracks. In fact it became my new fav of the soundtracks. Each of the songs on the first soundtrack was a laundry list of the intense love between Bella and Edward. The songs themselves were just so moving, that I would seriously repeat the whole album, especially before the movie started. Part 2 was the culmination of their love. Sigh, seriously love the music.

Here are a few standouts for me:

This list is getting long isn’t it? But this is just a tip of the iceberg of the gazillion songs that I have found over the years.

This last list is from one of my favorite shows on TV. So You Think You Can Dance honestly has the choreographers finding the most unique songs that they seriously use to create the most spectacular dance numbers. This last list is the songs that truly moved me to tears or just simply moved me.

As you can see I love music. I love telling people about new artist I find. I am passionate, when I find an artist who just gets to me. And yes, I sometimes wonder why some don’t have the same level of love that I do.  So check out these artists. This right here is the serious ultimate playlist!

I miss writing...

I  miss writing. Why haven't I been consistant?  Wish I can tell you because I have  so many things on my mind that it is straight funny, but I seem to have gotten lazy finger syndrome.

The  problem I see is that I have gotten  back into one of my hobbies, which  is crochet. It has taken up all my spare time.

I  also seem o have forgotten to catch  my shows that I write reviews for.  Sad but true. Like the 30 day squat challenge I've started I apparently need a 30 day write challenge.

With  November fast approaching this is a perfect  time to get into the habit of writing  every single day on a consistent basis. I have a month and half to prepare a story, though I have nothing in mind.

Should  I do an outline or write by the  seat of my pants? The last time I  completed the nanowrimo back in 2009 I had an outline, however the bulk of the story was written on the fly. It has potential, if I ever get back to it, however I don't know if that will ever happen, and my vampire type story may just never see the light of day. Sad but true.

I  am getting excited about writing again  and not just for nanowrimo. I love  reviewing whether it is tv or books. Sometimes I just don't give myself credit to just sit down and write. This is where I let crochet take over.

But  as you can see,  I am working  on actually getting my act together and  writing again. This blog is a first step as establishing myself as writer again. I am not getting any younger, so if I am going to write a book, this is the perfect time to do so. This was a very random thoughts post. I miss writing these.

30 Day Squat Challenge.... Really?

So  why did I decide to do this insane  challenge? There are several reasons why.

Possibly  the most important reason is because I  felt ready to actually push myself to  do such a challenge.

Since  May 2013, I made a conscious choice  to change my eating habits. I did  not want to go on a diet, which I'v been on before, and while I've lost weight, I also gained it back not really learning my lesson.

No  in May I spoke to my brother, who  is a personal trainer, to create a  meal plan for me. It was hard, very, very hard to put myself on the regime since I was a 1 to 2 times a day eater.

Fast  forward a couple of months of eating  less but more times a day, and for  the most part making healthier choices and intermittent exercise (walking) I felt really good as well as had more energy. Along with that my weight loss was a thing of beauty, with the exception of one thing: the loss of my butt.

That  is the second reason I decided to  do the insane 30 day squat challenge.  I look at it as a way to get into another established routine like my eating, something that will help me in the long run. Also I want my booty back.

I  am on day 14 and I am shocked  that I completed 130 squats so far  (day 13). The goal at day 30 will be 250. I don't feel a change in my butt, however doing the squats with the eating and the occasional walking, I can say that my thighs are losing inches. How do I know this? My pants are fitting better around my thighs. It feels damn good.

Would  I recommend anyone take on this challenge?  No. Unless you feel that you are  in a good spot with yourself, then that is entirely up to you. For me it is a good way to challenge myself to keep going and to see how far I can truly go.
