Scary Movies are not for me!

I thought this post would be appropriate for the month.

So my friend and her daughter saw this new freaky movie, “Paranormal Activity”, which is supposedly true and filmed here in San Diego.

Now I personally do not like scary movies, though I’ve seen a few to know it is not my thing, but when there is a movie supposedly based on fact and filmed in my city, well there is no way on God’s green Earth I will ever see that movie!

You see my imagination goes into overdrive to the point I can’t sleep and I start to experience my own paranormal stuff. So no thank you “Paranormal Activity!”

When I saw “Blair Witch Project” I was scared. I watched it with my sister and it was probably after midnight. All of a sudden, after the movie ended, I look at my sister who has tears welling up in her eyes and all she is doing is pointing with her mouth hanging open.

I will tell you now; I was ready to leave her and my kids to whatever supernatural thing was happening no lie! Wrong I know!

When I finally turned around, my dang phone cord had twisted itself into the shape of those stick figures that were hanging up in the trees in the movie. If you seen it, you will know what I am talking about.

I was so effin (this is my way of cursing, thank you very much!) scared, and at that precise moment, as we stared in horror at the cord, someone knocked on my door. No lie!
We screamed bloody murder and jumped so high I am surprised we didn’t jump on the ceiling! I tried to make my sister answer the door (wrong I know haha), but I finally made myself walk to the door. It was the next door neighbor’s friend who knocked on the wrong door. I was so relieved that I turned into a gibbering idiot for 5 seconds. He looked at me like I was crazy, but I didn’t care. After that we watched Inspector Gadget, the movie, to get our minds off that crazy mess we experienced! (Can I tell you, that writing this I am getting scared all over again?)

So this is one of many reasons why I will not see scary movies in general. And this would be my definition of scary movies, such as torture and any type of Asian horror, which is a whole other type of scary to me. This will be The Ring and The Grudge. Enough said on that.

Now I will probably see Zombieland, because it just looks funny, though a bit gross, but knowing me, after seeing it, the dang Zombie apocalypse will happen and I am in no dang shape to be running from zombies so I’d probably end up being one.

So what scares the poop out of you? Or are you like my friend who will see these movies because she enjoys being scared?

President Obama: Nobel Peace Prize means No peace in America

Disclaimer: Sometimes I read stuff and I shake my head at what people really think. You will probably read this and shake your head and say why? Well I felt compelled to give an opinion.

I just received in my email a news alert about Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize and my first thought was, ok who is going to hate on him first? I am an American, and I am usually proud to be one. But is it me or do a lot of Americans actually hate anything the presidents says or does? Already read a few posts about how accepting this prize “will hurt” him.

Here is the thing. He did not ask, he was nominated and he accepted it as good will. What is wrong with that? Seriously what is wrong? It basically was awarded for his vision, which seems will never bear fruit if some of my fellow Americans have their say.

I already know worldwide this will be looked on as a good thing as well as a bad thing. I get that. But it would be nice if more people looked at this as a win for us as Americans, not a gain for Obama’s detractors to say more things against him. My pride leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

I am in no way a politician, nor would I presume to even have the knowledge to go up against someone who is deeply into it, but as an average citizen I am simply fed-up. I am not expecting miracles overnight. The man is in office for the next four years. Our problems didn’t escalate overnight but years of mismanagement got us to where we are.

I am writing this post in disgust of some my fellow Americans. With all the in-fighting and hopes and excitement of Obama failing, how can he expect to get anything done with so many idiots running around spouting off why everything he says is wrong? Seriously? Tell me how?

I read a post where in the comments a “republican” was upset that his tax dollars was spent on the Obama’s flying off to the Olympic committee to beg for Chicago to be the host for the next summer Olympics. And I thought, that is your only concern? Really?

And oh my were people happy when he lost the bid. All the money that could have generated for us all, shouldn’t we all have been upset about the good of having the Olympics here and the potential money lost? I think we lost out as a host country because not only is the Olympics about sports, but sportsmanship and the conduct of it athletes being above reproach and how can we host when our own conduct sucks?

So now this latest “good” thing is apparently not a good thing, according to one reporter.

Here is my question: What will it take for people to step back and realize that as a whole, Americans are acting like petulant children who can’t have their way? Will another tragedy cement us as allies? Because that seems to be the ONLY time ALL Americans can come together in peace and harmony.
Thanks for reading and I promise I will be funny another time.

Wibiya toolbar on the bottom: Why is it so much cooler?

That is what I thought when I first started seeing the Wibiya toolbar on other blogs. You know the pink one at the bottom of this blog? If you can’t see it, it is because I assume you don’t use Firefox as your internet browser. By the way, I look good in Firefox.

I searched high and low and spent countless hours researching. I could have asked other blog owners, but I didn’t. I wanted to be part of the cool kids, and you know how it is when you ask, they may or may not let you in!

So I found it. It is in Beta mode, so they sent out invitations first. Well I didn’t let that stop me! When you click on the link it will take you to their front page and all you need to do is click on the green get it now button and it takes you to the page to request the bar.

On this page you’re just going to put in your email address, name and your site URL to ask for an invitation. It took only two days of sitting by my email before my cool kid status was assured! Oh yeah, it is totally FREE!

Here is a blurb from the company:

“Wibiya enables blogs to integrate the most exciting services, applications and widgets of their choice into their blog through customized web-based toolbars. Our platform offers a one-stop solution for integrating, managing and tracking third-party applications.

Currently we offer a fixed set of tools such as creating a blog community via Facebook connect, enabling twitter alerts on your blog and enabling post navigation but there is a lot to wait for as we will be adding more and more application through time.”

It really is an interactive toolbar. Play with mine (lol) and you can see for yourself. It is totally customizable to match the color scheme of your blog and bottom line it really is just a bitchen’ tool to have!

Scripted TV shows: Is Reality TV finally going away?

I saw Glee last night. I’ve come to the conclusion that finally, after a long, endless parade of “reality” TV from housewives who don’t know how to act to the VH-1 crazy spin-off of a spin-off of a spin-off that TV is finally coming back to great scripted shows with a vengeance.

At least I truly hope so! Don’t get me wrong, I love the dance shows and the other talent competitions, but there are just WAY too many of these inane shows to actually add value to my TV viewing.

Glee seems to be bringing back actual enjoyment of the scripted word. It has singing. It has dancing. It has drama. It has the evil wenches, and the tools and it is all crafted in a neat little package. Sounds almost like a reality TV except, these people in Glee are more believable.

Here is to hoping that more scripted shows are a given in the future, instead of a novelty as once reality TV was. And I need TV execs to stop giving up on these written shows. In the past 3 yrs my heart has been hurt more times than I can count because they stop these shows in the middle of their fledgling debut.

Do you agree or disagree?

Tila Tequila...A Publicity Whore or Marketing Genius?

I swore I would not put that person on my site, but after seeing some of her tweets, I am convinced now more than ever that she is uber crazy or the smartest woman ALIVE!

If you don't know or have been living under a rock with Patrick Starfish, Tila claimed Charger player Shawne Merriman basically restrained her and was trying to hold her at his home against her will. But in the past week it has gone from a restraint against her leaving his home to a full beatdown by the man.

Now there are pictures of her arms with bruises on them, but they are consistant of someone holding her arms not getting a beat down.

Well after the DA here in San Diego decided to not file charges against Shawne Merriman, then Tila took her war of words to her Twitter page. She has been saying all kinds of things to the point of idiocy and now unless you were following her, she has locked her tweets. So my good friend who is following her has been sending me some of her tweets. This last batch is what prompted my blog today.

Check out her awesome words of wisdom on why she will leave men alone now:

Now I understand the reason behind all of this taking place. God told me that the right path for me is being a lesbian. It all makes sense.
Icon_lockand yes....every guy IS the same. They DISGUST ME BEYOND BELIEF. I can't ever forgive myself for ever not being a lesbian sooner.
Icon_lockAnd from my personal experience. Women do it SO MUCH BETTER then men with sex anyway. Its about time I became a full lesbian.
Icon_lockSo I guess we all know who I am going to marry now at the end of the day.....another WOMAN! I can't wait to meet her and start my life....
Icon_lockI will NEVER have the same outlook on Men ever again. After this incident. I have a strange disconnection towards men now. All of them.
Icon_lockI can see now why so many victims of domestic violence end up becoming lesbians afterward. Cuz I for one. Never want to go back to men again
Icon_lockBTW...what pisses me off, is that SO many women have emailed me to confess about getting beat. But they are all SO SCARED to speak up!
Icon_lockIm gonna try to get some rest now. Have a long week ahead to move forward in my Civil Suit against Mr. Merriman. Goodnight. God Bless.
Icon_lockI feel like Im being "Rodney King-ed" here. Corrupt judicial system. SD is the worst! They're going 2 regret doing this2 me cuz I wont stop

I am amazed by everything she spots out. For a grown-ass woman she has taken this she said/he said crap to new limits. But the thing is, she is probably an evil genius of marketing because she continues to keep herself out there and who knows? Maybe this is something for her new show a "Shot at Love" #3. What do you think? Is she crazy or marketing master-mind?

I Review Books... Anyone Hiring?

So I am a writer of many things, from blogging, writing short short fiction, to book reviews. And I can say that I am loving all the writing. I want to make it a full time career, but at this point writing is a hobby.

The book reviews I do are probably the most fun, besides blogging, that allows me to be me in an academic way. Blogging is all about personality whereas my articles have to come from my experience as a reader of erotica and romance. Yeah I am an erotic reviewer.

Now I just don't just do books, but review sites, other blogs, and publishers. I LOVE it! Of course the research is just a bonus =D.

But the very best thing about reviewing? Is being asked to review! That is so cool. I hate to admit this, lol, but I get "author-struck". It is like star-struck only I get giddy over meeting authors either in person or online! Now shh, tell no one!

So if you're over eighteen, and want to know about a book, site, blog, or publisher you should stop by my site. You'll love it! Shameless Plug #1

How has the economy changed you?

Thank you for reading. As you know (I hope!) I write for the examiner.com, San Diego, and I am looking for input from my twitter followers (or those interested) for an upcoming article I'm putting together.

Since my articles mostly revolve around erotica, I am looking for the habits of erotica buyers, authors, and publishers, but if anyone wants to chime in, I am excited for you to be apart of this.

Consumers, with the economy the way it is, has this changed the way you purchase your erotica books? Or do you still continue to buy as you've done before?

Authors has the economy changed how your paid now vs before? Are you still able to submit or has this been hindered?

Publishers has the economy changed how you accept work from new authors? Or changed the way you do business?

I'd really appreciate your input!

Now you can leave either your comments here or @reply and I will make sure to get info from Twitter. I will try to include all in the article, but I can't make any promises, as I need this information within the next 3 days. Thanks!
