Twilight Saga: Eclipse Movie Review: And why Bella must Die!

Ok maybe not, but this is the part of the series, where I and many others had extreme hatred for one Bella Swan and her back and forth shenanigans between Edward and Jacob.

Now before I get started, if you are over Twilight in general or could care less, then I suggest you leave the blog post now. But you should keep reading well I kick ass as a writer and I think you will find my writing “voice” witty. Seriously.

Eclipse is where we get more insight into Jasper, Rosalie and the Quileute Indians’ legend of the Cold ones. And of course the crazy mixed-up emotional Bella Swan.

As the scene opens we see a young man leaving a store at night in the rain, when all of a sudden he is attacked, then thrown against a wall, then chased until he is bitten and the venom sets in. He starts screaming in agony. And this is the start of a great movie.

From that scene on, the viewer is transported back to Forks, where Bella must decide between her immortal love or her wolfy friend who is more than a friend. If you ever read Wuthering Heights, then this would be the modern version of it.

In between Bella’s dilemma is Victoria, who is creating an army of newborn vampires to destroy Bella. That is some intense hatred on Victoria’s part, but she is past reason at this point. A battle ensues, where the wolves, the natural enemy of the vampires, must create a truce with the Cullens to fight off the newborn vampires who are stronger and therefore more deadlier than even the oldest vampire.

And keep in mind, this is to save one Bella Swan, the only human aware of the things that go bump in the night.

A couple of things I had problems with in this film. Yes even an extreme fan can have some not so nice thoughts about her favorite vampire story.

There is a part in the movie where Bella and Jacob are talking and for some reason the camera had this shaking quality that was quite irritating. The other problem for me was Bryce Dallas Howard. I don’t know if it was because I saw Rachelle L. in both Twilight and New Moon right before Eclipse, but as the new Victoria I just could not see it. As a matter of fact I hated this Victoria. And while in some parts of the movie her hair was red, yet when Victoria was fighting Edward in the snow, her hair somehow magically turned brown.

I mean the studio’s budget is a huge, and they couldn’t fix these two problems? Plus I think I’m biased in the fact that Rachelle just made a better Victoria.

Overall, though this movie was better than the previous two, Bella’s character makes one wish Victoria did get a hold of her and kill her. I mean it would have put Bella out of her self-imposed misery. Just saying. Thanks for reading!

District 9...A Kick A$$ Movie!

Saw District 9 yesterday on Labor Day. OMG!!! This movie was ridicoulous with the visual effects, which I had read somewhere that the budget for this film was pretty low. The aliens looked so real and the interaction with the aliens looked real.

So here is the quick rundown. Twenty years ago, an alien ship stopped over South Africa and for the first 3 months nothing happened, so the military decided to go in to see if there was anything they could salvage. What they find is millions of aliens who are dying. Apparently they were lost and/or stuck without a way to get home. They were taken from the ship and put in slums, called District 9.

The main character Wikus works for a company called Multi-National United (MNU) who has basically taken care of alien-human integration. He was placed in charge to move the aliens or prawns as the humans called them, from District 9 to District 10. The reason for this move was because the people were tired of living close to the aliens. Well what was supposed to be a routine eviction/move-out turns into a nightmare for Wikus as everything changes in the blink of an eye. See the movie to see what is really going on! Will blow your mind!

This movie is done in the beginning as a documentary and done so well, you can truly believe this could happen. The movie is crazy, a little bit gross, and above all else a kick a$$ sci-fi movie which I am a serious lover of!

I Review Books... Anyone Hiring?

So I am a writer of many things, from blogging, writing short short fiction, to book reviews. And I can say that I am loving all the writing. I want to make it a full time career, but at this point writing is a hobby.

The book reviews I do are probably the most fun, besides blogging, that allows me to be me in an academic way. Blogging is all about personality whereas my articles have to come from my experience as a reader of erotica and romance. Yeah I am an erotic reviewer.

Now I just don't just do books, but review sites, other blogs, and publishers. I LOVE it! Of course the research is just a bonus =D.

But the very best thing about reviewing? Is being asked to review! That is so cool. I hate to admit this, lol, but I get "author-struck". It is like star-struck only I get giddy over meeting authors either in person or online! Now shh, tell no one!

So if you're over eighteen, and want to know about a book, site, blog, or publisher you should stop by my site. You'll love it! Shameless Plug #1

What if Vampires could eat food?

Ok just finished this new vampire book. It is called Eternal by V. K. Forrest. It is a paranormal romance. Ok here is what I liked about the book.

First off as you read the beginning of the story from the main character point of view Fia Kahill, you don't get the sense that she is a vampire. I mean the back of the book says she is, but she doesn't come off that way. Why? It is because she is an FBI agent, who can walk in the sun and eat food. Whoa! That was something different. As a side note I am always reading vampire books and it is nice to come across one the has its own rules.

So not only does she eat food but she has a therapist. She also has an addiction. She goes out at night dressed as a hooker and picks up men to drink blood. But in this vampire novel, her sept (like her vampire coven) decided to protect humans because they are convinced that God cursed them and it is their goal to look after humanity.

I like the fact that in this vampire story, these vampires, while immortal, age like normal humans and die. Then they rise after 3 days and have no recollection of their life until they hit 21. I love that idea.

While I really like the idea of this vampire lore, I was disappointed in the fact that Fia had too many problems. I mean she is a vampire, who works as an FBI agent, but she also has a low self-esteem, little confidence, and kinda of a pushover with her family. I needed her to have a little bit more backbone.

I am also disapointed that the sex scenes were far and few between. And not as descriptive as I like. Don't get me wrong, this author is well written, but I feel that the cover and back cover are a little misleading. While she does fall for the guy, they don't acutally get together until the last half of the book.

So I'd recommend this book for the cool vampire lore and interesting overall story, but this is not a keeper in my book collection. I give this a 3 out of 5.

Thanks and if you think that I am wrong by all means comment.
